We are a non-profit Daycare providing and promoting quality childcare services for the children and families in and around Lac La Biche County.

**Job DescriptionAs an Early Childhood Educator you will be responsible for safe & high-quality childcare through**:

- Develop and implement a program that supports the development of children.
- Assist the children with self-help skills where needed, including toileting and diapering/ eating
- Maintain an environment that protects the well-being of children and reflects their needs and interests.
- Builds children’s social and interpersonal skills and positive self-concept
- Ability to adapt and respond to changing conditions, shift schedules and priorities with a positive attitude.
- Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress with parents and other staff.
- Plan and facilitate activities that stimulate children’s natural curiosity and support their individual skills and abilities
- Establish collaborative relationships with co-workers, management, and families.
- Work within Licensing and Accreditation regulations, Health and Safety practices and protocols, program goals and Agency philosophy

**General Duties of the position include**:

- Punctuality and reliability to meet all scheduled shifts and meetings
- Ability to maintain an aesthetically pleasing, clean, safe, and sanitary classroom.
- Setting up, prepping the room or activity planned
- Cleaning and organizing the Centre as required
- Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities as necessary
- Work collaboratively within a team environment
- Provide a welcoming and supportive environment to children and families
- Assist with classroom maintenance, material preparation, set up and clean up
- Ability to use computer software as we use HIMAMA in creating daily reports.
- Support administration in some paperwork (based on the childcare certification level)

**Qualifications**:

- Level 2, or 3 Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification or equivalent. Preference will be given to those with an Early Learning and Childcare Education background
- Successful RCMP and child intervention criminal checks
- First Aid and CPR in Child Care

**Knowledge**:

- Knowledge about early childhood development
- Must be able to relate to children and adults
- Willing to take initiative and be enthusiastic
- Model respectful behavior and language
- Previous experience with childcare
- Administrative work and experience with the Flight Curriculum Framework is an assets.
- Must be willing to increase knowledge in early childcare field.

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Work collaboratively with colleagues and enjoy working as part of a team.
- Awareness of learning opportunities, how to engage with child effectively
- Be energetic, motivated, caring, and supportive

**Working Conditions**:

- Hours may vary depending on the business need
- Frequent Floor play
- Ability to work outdoors. This job requires educators to be outdoors for play in all types of weather and may include walking children to and from school.
- Working in smaller spaces with numerous children and adults

**Physical Requirements**
- Standing, walking, or moving quickly throughout the day
- Ability to life at least 45lbs
- Must be able to work with sterilizing solutions for cleaning the center
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and enjoy working as part of a team.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Casual, Seasonal
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
