**Job purpose**

The House Mentor Role provides essential support to the House Leader. The Mentor will provide essential support and direction to the direct support workers as a role model and peer support. The Mentor will support onboarding new team members and will assist in developing the team.

**Duties and responsibilities**

**General**:

- Maintain positive and effective communication.
- Understand and conduct self, according to Simaril Inc. Policies and Procedures and legislative requirements.
- Assist to guide staff and bring unresolved concerns to the attention of the House Leader

**Administrative**:

- Finances - review and organize: petty cash records, individual transactions, track gift cards and check individual’s bank and cash transactions
- Schedules - post updated schedules, review schedules for open shifts to advise House Leader, assist with staff coverage.
- Record Keeping - in conjunction with House Leader ensure record keeping is accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
- Monitor appointments ensuring information is documented and followed up on
- Submit weekly IRs for meds **Cluster specific**:

- Assist with MAR sheet management, menu creation file archiving, creating and facilitating meetings.
- Assist with home maintenance checks.
- Be part of the WHS inspection of the home
- Actively participate with at least one committee

**Direct Support (Program Support)**:

- Provide all DSW responsibilities.
- Role model and collaborate with DSWs to ensure all daily tasks are completed.

**Leadership**:

- Help create a positive work environment and create positive relationships within the location.
- Assist with staff accountability.
- Assist to train new staff after the House Leader has completed the first portion of the training.
- Provide encouragement and support to team members.
- Identify and report any areas of improvement to the House Leader
- Implement an exemplary understanding of boundaries and professionalism.

**Eligibility Requirements**,** **Hours** of Work and Working Conditions**
- The House Mentor should be available to work at least 48 hours biweekly.
- They will be expected to work evenings and at least one weekend shift each week.
- The House Mentor must perform at a higher level in the DSW (Direct Support Worker) role.
- Effective communication with the House Leader, coworkers, and management is essential.
- A good understanding of computers and programs, including Microsoft 365, is necessary.
- The House Mentor may be required to work some overtime hours, with paid compensation, to provide additional support beyond regular work hours.
- Having a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes is preferred.
- Preferred: Minimum of 1 year of experience with Simaril.

**Physical requirements**

This job requires a combination of walking, bending and lifting. The House Mentor is frequently exposed to noise and a regular flow of people around the office or in the work location.
