The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPR) offers a world-class education for approximately 34,000 students in 87 schools. Spanning over 7,000 square kilometers, across diverse rural and urban communities in southeastern Ontario, KPR serves the Municipality of Clarington, Northumberland and Peterborough Counties, and City of Quinte West/Murray Ward.

The purpose of the Labour Relations Assistant position is to provide confidential administrative support to the Labour Relations team, who are responsible for the management and administration of the Board’s labour and employee relations functions, including negotiation, grievance/mediation process, administration and interpretation of multiple collective agreements and related practices and procedures and legislation. This position also has responsibility, through the Executive Officer, Human Resource Services, for maintaining the department annual budget and purchasing, and coordination of the annual Employee Recognition Dinner.
This position requires the highest degree of confidentiality and discretion as the duties involve working directly with various stakeholders and information, both internal and external to the Board, regarding highly sensitive and personal matters.
**REPORTS TO**: Human Resource services manager - Labour and employee relations
**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Provides confidential administrative support to the Human Resource Services Manager - Labour and Employee Relations through the grievance process including maintenance of the confidential grievance and staff relations tracking system, coordination and scheduling of grievance meetings, record keeping of grievance responses and related correspondence, and
Provides administrative support in the scheduling and coordination of various Labour Management Committee meetings, and other meetings as assigned, and is primarily responsible for taking accurate meeting minutes.
Maintains the Employee and Labour Relations Team records system, including processing and distribution of incoming and outgoing correspondence and information; hard copy filing for general and union correspondence and related documents; various electronic files for employee reports and correspondence related data; responsible for maintenance and securing of employee disciplinary records.
Assist the Human Resources Services Manager - Labour and Employee Relations, with preparing reports and correspondence for the Ontario College of Teachers and/or Ontario College of Early Child Educators as required.
Coordinates tasks required to support the annual Employee Recognition Dinner including, liaison with the Trustee Employee Recognition Committee, and overall coordination of this event.
Maintains the department budget records by processing purchases and payments, ensuring accurate record keeping.
Assist with drafting correspondence and communications.
Responds to telephone and in person human resource inquiries from employees at all levels.
As may be required from time to time, provides assistance to other Human Resource Services teams as directed by the Human Resource Services Manager - Labour and Employee Relations or designate.
Maintains awareness of and compliance with all applicable employment, environmental, health and safety procedures and legislation.
Other duties as assigned.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:
Post-secondary degree or certificate (i.e. university, college or technical training) completed in Human Resource Management, or equivalent education.
