**Overview**:
The Meal Program Coordinator & Head Chefis accountable to the Manager of Food and Nutrition and is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of Caldwell Family Centres (CFC) meal programming. This position provides leadership and supervision to staff in alignment with the Mission, Values and Strategic goals of the Caldwell Family Centre.

The Meal Program Coordinator & Head Chef coordinates ongoing programming, operational and administrative activities and manages all meal program partnerships with external service providers. In addition, the Meal Program Coordinator & Head Chef provides management support to CFC staff during periods of absence of the Manager of Food and Nutrition.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for providing leadership to ensure the effective and efficient coordination of Meal Program service delivery with a focus on preparing delicious, nutritious, and culturally inclusive meals.
- Develops and Manages CFC’s Meal Program Budget.
- Provides leadership and support to meal program staff, volunteers and students: working onsite during regular program hours to ensure harmonious working relationships.
- Handles direct supervision of staff including the hiring, training, performance management.
- Organizes and oversees service and preparation of the breakfast and lunch meals in the Drop-in Centre.
- Provides ongoing direction to staff, volunteers and students which ensures efficient and effective procedures in the kitchen.
- Schedules staff, volunteers and students to support the successful execution of the meal program.
- Delegates tasks to staff, volunteers and students in the kitchen as required.
- Orders optimal quantities of food ingredients to support meal preparation for the CFC Meal Program and meal programming delivered in partnership with external service providers.
- Works with the CFC Food Bank to deliver meal programming which maximizes use of food and minimizes waste.
- Monitors food inventories and adjusts menus as needed.
- Ensures freshness of food, discarding out-of-date items
- Ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations in the kitchen
- Ensures the kitchen facilities and equipment are cleaned after use.
- Proudly represents the good work of the Caldwell Family Centre Meal Program in the media as required.
- Works some evenings and weekends as required on initiatives which support CFC Programming and Community Engagement.
- Passionately promotes the vision, mission and activities of CFC

**Qualifications**:

- Proven work experience as a Chef or Cook, preparing meals for 200 to 300+ people at a time
- Advanced knowledge of culinary, and baking techniques.
- Experience with meal program delivery and managing kitchen/meal program staff.
- Demonstrated Servant Leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and supportive to colleagues.
- Excellent time management abilities.
- Negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes, including culturally diverse meals
- Familiarity with sanitation regulations.
- Experience overseeing meal program/kitchen budgets.
- Ability to deal with confidential material and matters respectfully.
- Ability to perform duties independently or with mínimal supervision.
- A strong commitment and work philosophy.
- Successful Police Record Check.
- Reliability and flexibility.
- Experience working with people living in a high-risk, low-income environment is an asset
- Ability to maintain a positive, optimistic and non-judgemental attitude, respecting the beliefs and culture of all clients, staff, volunteers and placement students.
- Standard First Aid/CPR certificate.

Pay: $51,000.00-$53,000.00 per year
