We’re a Canadian-owned and BC-based energy company taking steps toward a lower-carbon energy future by providing renewable energy, natural gas and electricity to more than 1.2 million customers.

We’re looking for new talent to join us as we transform BC’s energy future. Our diverse team of more than 2,600 employees is committed to a safe and inclusive culture where each of us can connect, belong and grow. Join us and let’s work together for a better BC. Position Overview
You’re a tactical mastermind who can leverage your thorough understanding of government greenhouse gas (GHG) and climate change policies to develop aligned actionable corporate strategies in the energy utility sector. You’re incredibly thorough in your approach, adaptable in rapidly changing environments, and collaborative in nature to ensure your strategies are rock solid. We need someone like you to join as a Policy Advisor, Climate Action.

In this role, you’ll support our Public Policy and Government Relations department with progressing climate action and policy objectives, including our Clean Growth Pathway plan’s compliance.

**In this role, you will**:

- Contribute to the development and compliance with FortisBC’s internal greenhouse gas reporting, tracking and action framework.
- Conduct policy analysis and engagement for renewable gas development in BC, including policy analysis and government relations on hydrogen production and the inclusion of renewable gases to provincial and federal policy frameworks.
- Support strategy, analysis and stakeholder relations to guide consumer low-carbon transportation and building energy solutions for electric and gas utilities.

**What it takes**:

- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in a relevant field such as environmental studies, political science, public affairs, business administration, or engineering, plus a minimum of four to seven years related experience in energy industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Excellent analytical skills and attention-to-detail with a focus on public policy analysis to develop strategies with an in-depth understanding of climate strategy, GHG abatement, regulations, and policies.
- Exceptional communications skills with a focus on government and stakeholder relations for GHG policy frameworks in Canada.
- A demonstrated understanding of energy systems, modeling, and GHG abatement solutions alongside proven energy sector, utility and regulatory experience.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
