**Work Schedule**: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts with potential overtime and occasional weekend work.
**Wage Range**: $28-$32 / Hour (Negotiation depending on experience)

**Position Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Monitor and report near-miss incidents and safety issues**: Conduct regular site inspections to identify and document safety concerns, ensuring timely reporting to prevent incidents.
- **Conduct thorough investigations**: Analyze incidents to determine root causes, compile comprehensive reports, and recommend corrective actions to enhance safety protocols.
- **Ensure site compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations**: Regularly review and update safety policies to align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- **Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards**: Assess job site conditions and activities to identify risks, implement control measures, and communicate findings to the team.
- **Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions**: Facilitate investigations into accidents and near misses, engaging team members to gather insights and improve safety measures.
- **Develop and maintain emergency preparedness plans**: Create and regularly update emergency response plans, ensuring all staff are trained and prepared for potential emergencies.
- **Promote a culture of safety and provide guidance to staff on best practices**: Actively engage with employees to foster a proactive safety mindset, providing training and support to enhance safety awareness.
- **Host Toolbox Meetings**: Organize and lead regular toolbox meetings to discuss safety topics, share updates, and encourage open communication among team members.
- **Safety Training**: Deliver safety training sessions to staff, ensuring all employees are knowledgeable about safety protocols and practices relevant to their roles.
**Qualifications**:
- Proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel
- Strong ability to draft safe work procedures, practices, safety analysis, and pre-job safety inspections
- Willingness and ability to travel to Vancouver Island as required
- **Strong computer skills**:
- **Charismatic and people-oriented, and confident in leading safety instruction and initiatives**:
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to effectively instruct and communicate with others
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- Access to a personal vehicle for the first 3 months of employment
- Valid drivers license
- Familiarity with Fall Protection and working at heights
- Familiarity with WorkSafeBC Regulations and the Act
- Trade Safety Coordinator certification
- Construction Safety Officer (CSO) certification
- Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1-3 certification
**Preferred (Optional) Qualifications**:
- Fit testing and Fall Protection certification
- WHMIS certification and knowledgeable
- JOHSC certification and knowledgeable
- Minimum 2 year experience on site
