**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and Administration, the Manager, Portfolio Analysis of Programs and Commercial Activities will play a strategic leadership role for the Portfolio Analysis initiative of the College’s Financial Sustainability Roadmap. The Manager is responsible for the development of a robust process that enables the Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the College Budget Committee to discretely view and assess the revenues and expenses of all academic programs and commercial activities. The Manager is responsible for the preparation of reports, documentation and analyses for the College Budget Committee and Algonquin College Executive Team (ACET). This includes conducting research and providing detailed financial analysis support and modelling for the initiative. Leading this initiative will include facilitating communications and consultations with the College leadership and stakeholders. Regular reporting and proposals will be presented to ACET for decision. The Manager will work with financial management staff and receive support from the Finance and Administrative Services Department and other faculties and departments in the College.

Key Responsibilities:
In coordination with the CFO and VP Finance and Administration, lead the activities to support the development of the portfolio analysis process
- Provides primary support to the Vice President, Finance and Administration and the College Budget Committee for the development of a portfolio analysis process for all academic programs and commercial activities.
- Prepares communications and analyses for the ACET to support decision making. (eg. historical analysis, benchmarks, financial models, etc.).
- Coordinates meetings, communications and documentation for the Finance and Administrative Services team engaged to support the development of processes.
- Drafts reports for submission to the governance body to provide status updates on the implementation of the initiative.
- Liaises with individuals and groups both inside and outside of the College to develop scope, timelines and expectations of the initiative.
- Drafts proposals for internal committees including College Budget Committee, Algonquin College Leadership Team, Integrated College Development Planning (ICDP) Committee and ACET.
- Develops budgets and ensures initiative remains within financial scope.
- Works within developed timelines to ensure deadlines are met by key individuals and groups.
- Documents the Portfolio Analysis process from start to end.
- Assists in the development of College sector-specific benchmarks and financial models.
- Coordinates the development and completion of the financial models that achieve the objectives of the portfolio analysis initiative

Project manages the development of a portfolio analysis process
- Oversees the coordination and execution of all activities and engages committees and groups to support the development of a portfolio analysis process
- In collaboration with the Office of the VP Finance and Administration, manage the initiative using project management practices including maintaining a project plan, schedule, milestones, resources and managing scope
- Lead and guide the activities of other financial management employees in the College required to support the development of a portfolio analysis process including employees in Finance and Administrative Services, Academic Operations and Planning, Campus Services, Business Development and other faculties and departments that deliver academic programs and commercial activities
- Troubleshoots and directs the appropriate course of action related to the development of the portfolio analysis process. This includes dealing with both internal and external parties to ensure a quick resolution/solution.
- Provides effective delivery of information to the college community related to training, engagement and communication strategies to support effective implementation of a portfolio analysis process
- Acts as liaison with departments for information provision or process
- Provides guidance and advice to the financial officers in each of the individual business units on items about budgets, financial guidelines, budget principles and related issues.

Leadership and Direction:

- The responsibilities of this position are both dynamic and fluid and the incumbent must be able to react quickly and be accountable to produce results with short turn-around timeframes.
