**The Position**:
Under the general supervision of the Health Manager, the Medical Transportation Driver (MTD) ensures passengers /clients travel in a safe vehicle to scheduled medical appointments within and outside of the community. The MTD will ensure the vehicle is clean and sanitized after each transport, maintained with regular service and in proper working condition at all times.
- Coordinate the scheduling of members’ transportation and vehicle use needs with the Medical Team.
- Transport Nation members to/from appointments (locally and off-coast) as needed and according to safety protocols and health needs as directed.
- Keep a daily log of each client in a logbook.
- Ensure that all equipment regarding the medical vehicle is maintained according to the manufacturer's guidelines and safety regulations.
- Ensure vehicle cleanliness as needed; sanitize the vehicle after each trip; ensure an adequate supply of face masks is available.
- Maintain a record of concerns/incidents regarding any problems encountered during client(s) transportation and notify Supervisor.
- Ensure all licenses are kept valid and current, including CPR/First Aid certificates.
- Report any anticipated late client delivery or pick-ups to the Supervisor or designate, who will inform the client(s) and/or service providers immediately.
- Ensure only clients approved to be transported to and from appointments are in the vehicle.
- Observe all road rules, including speed limits and safety regulations.
- Assist the elderly and disabled clients to and from the vehicle.
- Support elders and other vulnerable community members in transporting essential supplies (groceries, medications, etc.) with CMS teams.
- Always conduct oneself courteously and professionally.
- Schedule and oversee vehicle maintenance (and inspections if required).
- Ensure the safety of clients at all times.
- Perform all other tasks within the scope of the position and as assigned.

**Qualifications, Skills and Abilities**:

- Minimum Grade 10 education; High School Diploma or equivalent desirable.
- Minimum of five (5) years of driving experience.
- Knowledge of the community and city is required.
- Respect for, sensitivity towards, knowledge, and understanding of shíshálh culture and traditions.
- Be able to lift 40 lbs. when necessary.
- Minimum Class 5 license with a clear driver's abstract throughout employment.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
- CPR and First Aid Certificate.
- Pre-employment physical completed by a family physician or Nurse Practitioner.
- Must be able to adhere to the Medical Transportation Policy.
