The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Position summary
The Proteomics and Molecular Analysis Platform is seeking an efficient, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Research Assistant with intermediate wet lab skills to assist both the proteomics and small molecule workflows for a temporary full-time position with possibility of extension.
General Duties
**Under the supervision of the Platform Manager the incumbent**:
- Facilitates the platform’s dual proteomics and small molecule fee-for-service workflows,
- Performs sample preparation, including: SDS-electrophoresis, peptide extraction and
purification, (TMT) labelling and enrichment, small molecule extraction and purification,
- Develops, optimizes, validates methodologies and prepares standard curves,
- Assists with day-to-day Platform operations,
- Participates in the planning and conceptualizing of research questions and methods,
- Performs literature reviews and independent experimentation,
- Documents and summarizes results as needed for new and ongoing projects,
- Coordinates instrument schedules and resources,
- Coordinates service requests with Platform Manager and consults with customers for their
proteomics and bio-analyses needs,
- Responds promptly to queries and requests for information,
- Conducts other related tasks as assigned by the Platform Manager.

Education / Experience
- Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, or Clinical Laboratory Sciences and three (3) years
of related research with hands-on benchwork experience,
- Expertise in proteomics, bioanalytics, bioinformatics, or equivalent is an asset,
- Experience in LC/MS and of different UHPLC platforms using various chromatography methods is
an asset,
- Intermediate ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc), and Adobe/ PDF file
formats
- Knowledge of Biosafety guidelines and procedures,
- Critical thinker with strong troubleshooting skills and able to develop methods and adapt
published techniques,
- Able to work under mínimal supervision, as well as within a team,
- Committed to high standards of service to clients,
- Excellent communication skills,
- Bilingual: French and English (spoken and written).
Additional information
**Status**: Temporary, Full-time - (maternity leave replacement)
**Pay Scale**: Commensurate to experience
**Work Shift**: from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays to Fridays
**Work Site**: Glen site (1001 Décarie, Montreal)
