**SUMMARY**: The position of Surface Grinder performs surface grinding operations to grind external surfaces of metallic components as per outlined drawings and/or specifications.

**_ Please note we are hiring for day shift:_**

**_ Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm._**

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- To ensure parts and components are visually acceptable and dimensions meet requirements outlined in process sheets or diagrams;
- Mount and dress the required grinding wheel for the manual grinder(s)
- Complete in-process and final process quality checks, as required, using micrometers, gauges, etc
- Use various hand tools as required.
- Set appropriate magnetic check or related job to hold components securely for grinding operation
- Check provided drawings to verify machining dimensions
- Maintaining clean work station and general shop housekeeping
- Interprets sketches, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances for their specific operation, sequence of operation, and setup requirements.
- Operate an overhead crane to lift and set pieces that they feel are heavy.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures and grinding wheels.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
**TECHNICAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE**
- 6 months+ experience in a similar role
- Knowledge in the areas of interpreting detailed and complex drawings, specifications and tolerances
- Knowledge of machine shop setting preferred
- Strong ability to effectively operate and maintain machining equipment ensuring that high standards of quality are achieved in an effective and cost efficient manner.
