**Buyer, Electrical Commodity**Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, this role is responsible for identifying, continuous improvement of purchasing strategies within their assigned commodity (Electric) contributing to corporate profitability and operational success. Striving for cost improvements while maintaining high quality and on time delivery. Focus will be on assigned commodities supporting Current Production and/or New Product development needs.

**Note: This role will be a 100% on-site in our Guelph location.**
**Performance Expectations**
- Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographic location and:
- The Global Operating System Plays;
- OHSAS 18001:2007 Health and Safety management system standard;
- ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management system standard;
- TS 16949 Technical Specification Management and Linamar Quality Basics system standards.
- Support, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors.
- Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success Strategy.
- Develop strategic Supply Chain strategies to achieve cost reduction goals. Working close with Engineers and Suppliers to create opportunity for cost improvements.
- Identify innovative products and changes in manufacturing technology to create cost reductions and validate cross functionally for feasibility.
- Work with Senior Buyer to develop and negotiate long term agreements under general direction and support from Supervisor and/or manager.
- Mitigate price increases and find alternate supply base.
- Design tenders and communicate with Suppliers on these packages. Analyze formal bids to make recommendations on awarding business.
- Determine and Negotiate contract terms and conditions, award supplier contracts or recommend contract awards.
- Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.
- Maintain department 5S requirements.
- Generate, maintain and publish monthly reports and databases as required (Commodity tracking, cost savings, supplier scorecards etc.).
- Manage supply base by establishing and maintaining measurable performance metrics for all of procurement to ensure total cost.
- Provide follow up on purchased items with suppliers as required.
- Perform other tasks/projects as assigned.
**Credentials**
- Post-secondary education in Business, Materials Management or related field or equivalent work experience.
- PMAC or minimum two years equivalent experience in purchasing and/or production planning/inventory control is considered an asset.
**Desired Characteristics**
- **Experience in procurement function in a manufacturing environment.**:
- **Must have working knowledge of electrical commodities; commodity management principles and cost drivers.**:
- Possess ability to read and understand engineering drawings with the ability to communicate technical information to suppliers and engineers.
- Demonstrated independent, prioritizing, multi-tasking, organization, computer, communication (written and oral), analytical and problem solving skills.
- Flexible/Adaptable to ever-changing priorities
- Ability to rapidly respond to unforeseen developments and initiate actions to reduce adverse impacts to production schedule.
- **Experience negotiating contracts and resolving disputes with suppliers to achieve long term win-win relationships. Includes negotiating with new suppliers and implementing new long-term agreements with existing suppliers.**:
- Engage in continuous learning to keep up-to-date information on new products and market trends. Learn through daily work experience, by reading trade publications and by talking with co-workers, colleagues and suppliers.
- Ability break down the cost of goods to ensure best price is achieved without compromising quality.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office Products
- Ability to read basic blue print drawings considered at asset.
- Knowledge of electrical products (hardware and software) considered at asset.
- Good grasp of contract development and negotiations
- Ability to develop and execute commodity strategies under general guidance.
