**ERC Club Manager Position Outline**

The Edmonton Rowing Club (ERC) Club Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Rowing Club. Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Supporting the Board of Directors and coaching staff, supervising summer staff and rowing programs:

- Work with the Coaching staff to coordinate the schedule of facilities, dock and equipment use.
- Support all programs, including summer camps, Learn to Row sessions, and “Come Try” events.
- Support and consult with the Coaching staff to prepare for home and away regattas, including:

- Organize, prepare and facilitate trailer loading/unloading for regattas and training events.
- Invoicing away regatta fees to athletes and ensuring payment received.
- Assist with development and revision of policies, procedures, and other club administrative documentation as required.
- Provide regular written and oral updates to the Board of Directors (including attending part of Board meetings as requested).
- Providing a consistent and welcoming presence for club members and potential members by:

- Being an ambassador for the Club, club members, members of the public and at public events.
- Working with the Board of Directors and Coaching staff to oversee maintenance of club property, including but not limited to ensuring all facilities and equipment are safe, secure, organized, cleaned and ready for use by members:

- Maintain an inventory of club boats.
- Oversee maintenance of club buildings including scheduling of portapotties and Waste Management disposal.
- Regularly clean or delegate and supervise the cleaning of the indoor facility.
- Assist in ordering new boats and equipment.
- In conjunction with coaches and staff, ensure all rowing shells, motor boats, motors, ergs and tank stations are in working order and facilitate required repairs and maintenance.
- Coordinate with Coaching staff to ensure equipment is being cleaned on a regular basis
- Organize spring and fall dock placement/removal and cleaning of Boathouse and Tank.
- Work with the Membership Director to ensure Club participants are members in good standing by:

- Assisting with the administration of Amilia SmartRec and RCA WRS to ensure all participants are properly registered.
- Work to improve efficiencies and encourage growth and retention of members.
- Maintain an inventory of privately owned rowing shells and ensure compliance with the ERC Boat Storage Policy.

**Hours of Work**

Hours will be seasonally variable. For 2023 through to 2024, it is anticipated that the position will average 20 hours per week for August September and October. Commencing in November, the Club Manager position will be 20 - 30 hours per week and will concentrate on Program Development duties in anticipation of on-water programs commencing in May.

**Degree of Supervision**

The manager shall report directly to the President and be responsible for the implementation of tasks assigned by the ERC Board in accordance with the policies, programs and budget in force including purchases within limits established by the Board and the supervision of summer students. The manager is required to have decisions approved by the Board or its designate (President) for purchases.

**Performance Appraisal**

Performance appraisal will be completed by the ERC Executive in terms of the duties described above. Performance will be appraised informally on an ongoing basis, and formally prior to the end of the contract.

**Program Development Duties**

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Community and Corporate Outreach:

- Connect with High Schools in and around Edmonton and draft feeder programs to further grow the Junior Program.
- Research, identify and connect with suitable partner organizations with a view to increase participation of underrepresented groups in rowing.
- Draft and develop corporate rowing programs.
- Explore potential partnerships and grant opportunities to support new programs.
- Make recommendations to the Board of Directors for new programs, including program costs, implementation and offerings.
- Develop and enhance community knowledge, awareness and participation in the sport of rowing. Additionally, this position will further the ERC’s goals of inclusivity and diversity and increase community involvement.
- Rowing Club Outreach:

- Build on existing relationships with RCA, ARA and other rowing clubs in the province.
- Explore the possibility of development camps for athletes of all ages and capabilities.
- Coordinate programs with ERC administrative staff and ERC coaches.

**Coaching Certification**
- Registered in NCCP Locker - preferred
- Completed online course in NCCP Locker - preferred
- Certified Coach by Rowing Canada Aviron - preferred
- Pleasure Craft Operators Card - preferred

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $26.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
