**What are we looking for?**

**Basic Purpose**:
The Maintenance Worker is responsible for preserving and enhancing the hotel facilities by providing a wide variety of general building maintenance repairs and services to maintain the property in top physical and mechanical condition.

**Major Responsibilities and Duties (to fulfill major purpose)**:
1. Perform maintenance duties to ensure the property is maintained to meet operational requirements and guest expectations.

2. Perform preventative, proactive and routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting any issues.

3. Ensure the internal work order process is utilized effectively by responding to and tracing all requests and prioritizing each work order.

4. Conduct routine testing on all equipment.

5. Inspect all equipment for wear and damage.

6. Repair failures of production and facilities equipment and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness.

7. Assist contractors with major upgrades and assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors.

8. Maintain hotel esthetics, both interior and exterior.

9. Maintain safe working conditions within the department and hotel by ensuring that all associates and contractors follow Health and Safety policies and procedures.

10. Take an active role in all property emergency plans.

11. Be aware of all chemicals in any of the cleaners/tools used on the job and follow WHMIS safety procedures.

12. Provide a high standard of customer service by communicating with guests and assisting them with any needs they have.

14. Respect guests’ privacy, security and personal belongings and follow appropriate procedures.

15. Perform grounds maintenance.

16. Assist with upgrades, renovations and any special projects as assigned.

17. Assist with implementation of the SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts Environmental plan.

18. Perform other duties as assigned.

**Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required**:

- Practical knowledge and skills of: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, kitchen equipment, pool/spa maintenance, painting/drywall.

**Working Conditions**:

- Walking, standing, bending, crouching or stooping.
- Frequently lifting 5 to 50 pounds, occasionally heavier lifting.
- Evening, weekend and holiday hours may be required.
- Works outdoors and indoors; occasionally in inclement weather.

**Experience, Training and Education (demonstrating requirements)**:

- 1 - 3 years related building maintenance experience.

**Salary**: $27.50-$28.05 per hour
