We are seeking a Chef/Cook to join our team You will lead in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals in our professional kitchen.

**Responsibilities**:

- Oversee day-to-day culinary operations
- Prepare and serve all food using proper food handling and safety techniques
- Coordinate food and kitchenware orders in inventory lists
- Check freshness and quality of ingredients
- Assist in the development of menu items
- Memorize, record, and comprehend menu items, plate appearance, and portions
- Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours
- Standardize recipes and special diet orders
- Prepare and ensure snacks and beverages are available to residents at all times, according to Company procedure
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, appliances and food storage areas as well as floors and trash disposal
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Oversee temperatures of food prior to service, refrigeration and freezer temperatures.
- Ensure that all food is received, stored, and prepared according to Company standards.
- Work with management to create a memorable experience for residents
- May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- 2+ years previous experience in culinary arts, cooking, or other related fields, preferably hospitality
- Current Food Handler Certificate
- Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
- Passion for food and cooking techniques
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment
- Strong leadership qualities and attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food handling, preparation, cooking and service
- Willing to accept direction from superiors when needed
- Share job knowledge or resident information with others, as needed
- Communicate effectively in English with other employees and residents, as well as read and write English.
- Give and welcome feedback
- High standards of ethics and personal accountability.

**Salary**: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 12 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Long Sault, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Culinary: 2 years (preferred)

**Language**:

- English (required)
- French (preferred)

Shift availability:

- Day Shift (preferred)
- Night Shift (preferred)

Work Location: In person
