The St. John’s Port Authority is seeking a highly-motivated individual to join our team as the Marine Operations Coordinator. This position is responsible for the provision of assistance and support to the Manager, Marine Operations & Harbour Master in the efficient operation and utilization of port facilities to meet the requirements of the shipping industry while working cohesively with other team members to achieve departmental goals.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provides support to the Manager, Marine Operations & Harbour Master to ensure the continued provision of normal port operational services such as assigning berths, answering inquiries and responding to incidents, liaising with ship owners, agents, marine crew, and MCTS;
- Assist in the preparation, maintenance and implementation of all written records and port plans, including but not necessarily limited to; Business Continuity Plan, Emergency Response Plan and/or any associated plans that may be required;
- Maintains effective communications with vessel owners, captains, agents, and other port users in resolving operational matters;
- Ensures the safety of persons and the protection of property, coordinates activity of contracted firms and/or associated personnel;
- Performs standby duty on a rotational basis with other members of the Marine Operations Department.

A Marine Transportation Security Clearance will be required.

**Capabilities and Credentials**
- A marine background, attained through a formal post-secondary education program acquired through successful completion of a 3-year Nautical Science diploma and practical 3 to 5 years’ experience.
- Computer skills are essential, and completion of business courses would be a definite asset.
- Consideration will also be given to those with a logistics background who are able to demonstrate relevant operations/capabilities.

The salary for the position is in accordance with the Collective Agreement and a comprehensive benefits package is provided.
