**Policy Program Manager, Bay Area Climate Change Council**

***The Bay Area Climate Change Council (BACCC) is a collective impact initiative of 14 community leaders working to accelerate climate action in the Burlington-Hamilton, “Bay Area” region.

In order to reach net zero carbon by 2050, BACCC is working with partners to advocate and support smart policies and projects that will cut carbon emissions in both Bay Area communities by 50% by the year 2030.

To achieve this will require big changes to new and existing buildings, transportation networks, and local industry. This includes:

- Improving low carbon modes of transportation like biking, walking and public transit
- Increasing zero carbon vehicle uptake for all classes of vehicles (electric or alternative fuels)
- Retrofitting existing dwellings
- Building new buildings to a zero carbon standard
- Reducing local industrial emissions through innovation and without carbon leakage

To do this, BACCC develops turn-key policy solutions on climate issues. It convenes Implementation Teams (BACCITs) that bring together actors in the public sector, industry and community to work together on key priority projects that will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Bay Area. These projects will focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation, buildings and industry sectors.

BACCC is supported by the Cities of Burlington and Hamilton and is a “coalition in residence” at the Centre for Climate Change Management at Mohawk College.

Please note this position requires a hybrid work arrangement, with in-person meetings and 1-2 days/week in the office required beginning fall 2023.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

- Collaborate with BACCC, the BACCITs, and key stakeholders to design, implement and evaluate priority climate change projects and programs that have the potential to significantly reduce GHGs - these projects will include clear objectives, milestones, performance metrics, timeframes, implementation roles and responsibilities.
- Ensure BACCC, BACCITs and stakeholder relationships are well-managed and leading to successful multi-sector projects through effective communication and stakeholder relations.
- Continue to update and evolve BACCC’s strategic plan and corresponding work plans.
- Provide regular progress reports to inform BACCC, BACCITs, as well as City Councils, key stakeholders and the public informed and engaged.
- Effectively fundraise through grants, partnerships, and donations to secure resources for BACCIT projects and programs.
- Perform policy analysis and government relations activities to forward climate policy in the region.
- Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of engagement and outreach campaigns and assets, including events, digital, and print campaigns.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
The successful applicant must have:

- A minimum four (4) year Degree in Business, Urban and Regional Planning, Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Science, and/or Environmental Resource Management.
- A Masters Degree or Graduate level studies will be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
