**Youth Worker - **Rights of Passage (ROP) Program**
**Full Time, On site**
**Saturday - Wednesday - Day, Afternoon, Evenings**
**Level 6**
**Purpose of Position**
**Responsibilities**:
- Consistent Worker (CW) is responsible for care coordination of 6 to 8 participants in ROP. CW role includes building a professional therapeutic relationship with participants, participation in case management team meetings (CMT) and updating participants’ ISP Touchpoint on ETO.
- Completing intakes and supporting participants through orientation, their stay in program and successful transition to independent living or other supportive housing.
- Assessment of participants' needs, planning, referrals to other supports, ongoing council and documentation on ETO.
- Utilizing a trauma-informed approach, harm reduction approach and relentless. engagement in supporting participants with their goals of independent living.
- Facilitating a minimum of two workshops per month for participants; group and individual life skills.
- Crisis/Emergency intervention (UMAB) for participants with histories of trauma.
- One on one support with participants on their daily routines such as personal hygiene, laundry, cooking, budgeting and room cleanliness.
- Advocating for participants internally and Community Partners.
- Accompanying participants in the community for activities and appointments.
- Shift coordinating when Team Leaders are not available. This includes delegating responsibilities among staff on shift, and taking primary accountability for the safety of everyone in program.
- Conducting reception functions and monitoring program areas of 21 McGill for safety.
- Monitoring external environment including completing checks as needed.
- Assisting in training and orienting of new staff, volunteers and students.
- Completing other tasks delegated by Supervisor and/or Shift Coordinator.
**Qualifications**:
- College or University degree or diploma in child and youth work or equivalent.
- Minimum two years’ experience in a shelter or transitional housing program.
- Demonstrated ability of using trauma-informed approach with youth.
- Understanding of good case management practice.
- Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and specific issues related to youth experiencing homelessness.
- First Aid, CPR, UMAB and basic computer skills (SMIS, ETO, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to identify, assess and intervene differentially with youth in crisis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of community resources.
