**Job Summary**:
The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, planning and organizing the annual International Youth Day event. Working with the youth council advisors. and developing strategies to help them achieve the council goals, with the mission to “inspire, engage and celebrate youth through community participation & celebration.”

Ubuntu is excited to host a student as a Youth Administrative Support and Marketing Coordinator. The student will work closely with both our internal and external stakeholders by providing support to the Program Director and enhancing awareness of Ubuntu's programs. The Program Support Coordinator position is an excellent opportunity to work with a wide variety of organizations and professionals to impact meaningful change in Central Alberta.

**Eligibility**:
To be eligible for the position of Youth Program Coordinator - Summer Student, you must:
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment

Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

An understanding of marginalized youth in the community

Ability to work in a hybrid format

Ability to organize, plan and coordinate an event tailored to the needs of youth

Creating environments that foster independence and self-determination and respect

Maintaining program budgets

Builds respect and trust

Excellent teamwork and team building skills.

Sound leadership skills

High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability

Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to privacy.

Must be able to be depended upon to plan and organize work effectively and ensure its completion.

Program planning and development skills are an asset

Perform other duties as required to ensure the smooth functioning of the team and the organization.

**Qualifications**:
Post-secondary education and 1 - 3 years of related experience

Experience working with marginalized community(s), organizations and community programs

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered

**Duties and Responsibilities**

The student will:
Writing and distributing press releases and media advisories

Seek opportunities for youth council to be spotlighted in the community

Take and edit photos at various program events

Delegate opportunities for volunteer projects to interested youth

Participate in the Communications Committee of the Board of Directors, at the discretion of the Executive Director

Facilitate youth committee meetings, while motivating, engaging, inspiring the committee members

Liaise with existing and potential project in developing future directions of Ubuntu Youth Council

Recruit new youth volunteers

Promote Ubuntu - Youth council through social media

Ability to work independently and lead and plan an event

Research and development skills

Keen organisational and problem-solving skills; with the ability to multitask

Photography/video and writing skills would be an asse
