**About us**

Prairie Grown Early Learning Centre (PG ELC) is a non-profit and subsidized childcare centre for children ages 18 months to the end of kindergarten. PG ELC dedicated to creating early childhood programming that promotes an early learning environment led by the principles of Play and Exploration from the Ministry of Education. PG ELC focuses on child-led play with a focus on environments that incorporate sustainable materials in each classroom.

At PG ELC, our ECEs play an extremely important role to help build on each child’s strengths and abilities in a safe and nurturing environment.

Educators are responsive to the interests of the group of children in their care through observation and provide engaging experiences based on developmentally appropriate practices.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience working with young children in an early childhood education setting.
- Knowledge of child development principles and practices, including play-based learning and emergent curriculum.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity and promotes equity.
- CPR and first aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Current criminal record (including vulnerable sector) check
- Familiarity with licensing regulations and standards for early childhood education programs.
- Conduct regular diaper changes for toddlers, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards according to established protocols.
- Assist children with toileting and personal hygiene needs, including handwashing and changing clothes as necessary

**Responsibilities**
- Develop and implement childcare programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and social development of children
- Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress with parents and other staff members
- Supervise and monitor the safety of children in our care.
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities, including play, art, reading, and outdoor activities.
- Follow the daily schedule and routine established by the childcare program.
- Assist children with meals and feeding if necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment, including cleaning up after activities and ensuring toys and materials are sanitized.
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding the child's progress, behavior, and any concerns.
- Implement guidance strategies when necessary, promoting constructive behavior.
- Collaborate with other childcare staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment for children.

**Qualifications**
Completion of at least one of the following considered an asset:

- Early Childhood Educator Certificate/Diploma
- Education Assistant Program
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with children under 5 years old
- First Aid Certificate

**Salary**: $15.56-$20.43 per hour
