Lerners is seeking a full-time **Medical & Legal Support Clerk** to support our **Health Law Group** (HLG) in our **London**, Ontario Office. The primary responsibility will be to provide support to the Health Law Group Administrator and Practice Group Leaders.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Review of pleadings, complaints or expert assessments to identify medico-legal issues
- Research medical texts, online resources, standards of practice and peer reviewed literature to identify information relevant to the strength and weaknesses of the matter
- Conduct searches of appropriate databases to identify appropriate potential experts for specific cases
- Research/procure references and/or resources critical to the medical issues and assists the legal team with the development of a defence up to and including trial preparation;
- Process all correspondence from Health Law Clients
- Complete opening instructions for all new Client files
- Conduct quality-assurance review of all Opening Instructions
- Maintain and update administrative records of all Client matters
- Health Law Partner database
- HLG Medical Reference Library
- Responding to User inquiries and updating file data
- Prepare special “Attendance Calendars” as directed
- Provide administrative support for promotional activities/educational initiatives of HLG
- Other duties as assigned by the HLG Practice Group Leader(s) or HLG Administrator

**Qualifications**
- Educational training as an Administrative Assistant
- Previous experience in a direct-to-client service role
- Experience in a law firm setting and/or internal experience with Health Law is preferred
- Previous experience in a health-related setting is an asset
- Experience using medical terminology is an asset
- a strong ethic for confidentiality

- the ability to work independently and as part of a team
