The position of the Distress Centre Community and Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the evaluating the Distress Centre program, volunteer training and development, and engaging with community partners.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
- 2 year Community College diploma in social services, volunteer services or related field, with specialization in rehabilitation counselling
- 2-4 years related experience
- Volunteer Resource Management Certificate would be considered an asset
- Experience in partnership development would be considered an asset
- Knowledge of the needs and best practice service standards for persons with mental health issues and/or developmental disabilities
- Well-developed understanding of the social services sector and the challenges within the community
- Extensive knowledge of community resources
- Able to provide intervention supports to a variety of individuals in crisis requiring support and referral services
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, anticipation, organization and time management skills
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Broad knowledge of community and mental health services and resources
- CPI, CPR and First Aid would be an asset
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

**POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES**

***1. **PROVIDES SERVICES BY**:

- Through active sourcing activities, ensures a strong volunteer infrastructure is developed to provide support to volunteers across the region
- Participate in continuous improvement and other projects that will enhance the development and progress of the program
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners to advance goals of the program
- Expand and adapt process change to accommodate the needs of the community
- Collaborate with community partners for volunteer training opportunities
- Develop and design a robust volunteer training program
- Representing the agency and Distress Centre in community meetings and events
- Key lead to attain project outcomes identified
- Facilitate community engagement, including public speaking and marketing

***2. **PROVIDES ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT SERVICES BY**:

- Participates in the development of the communications plan to improve the centre’s visibility in the community
- Develop and implement medium to long term plans to address changing program needs
- Evaluate current volunteer onboarding and continuous training practices and provide recommendations for improvement
- Review program practices and determine gaps
- Coordinating efforts and operations with other community groups with common interests to establish working relationships and ongoing protocols
- Other duties as assigned

***5. **HEALTH AND SAFETY**:

- Ensure Health and Safety Program requirements are followed based on the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Ensure an awareness of safety measures for the agency, yourself and the individuals receiving services
- Ensure compliance with the agency’s mandatory training requirements

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**

The Distress Centre Community and Engagement Coordinator is directly responsible to the Manager Children’s Services and Distress Centre.

**Status**:Temporary Full-time - 18 month Contract

**Hours of work**:72.5** **hours bi-weekly

**2023 Salary**:$26.00 hourly

**Location**:Brockville, Leeds Grenville
