Under the provisions of the _Children and Family Services Act_, the Protection Social Worker protects children from abuse or neglect, provides ongoing services to parents, and children, and assesses families for placement of children.
Protection Social Workers require specialized knowledge, skills, and training, with some components being mandatory to ensure they have the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out their professional duties. The goal of the Protection Social Worker is to provide the health, safety, and well-being of children under the care of the Agency and those who remain in the care of their parents where concerns exist. They must actively engage parents, families, and communities to address challenges and trauma, strengthen relationships, and create positive change.
This role involves many unique challenges, including carrying out timely investigations of child protection concerns, providing protection services to children and families to ensure their safety and well-being, obtaining core training specific to child protection to obtain representative status, and preparing files for court hearings, settlements, and legal case conferences. Protection Social Workers also engage in the planning, development, and monitoring of case plans, participate in risk assessments, court testimonies, and clinical evaluations, supervise and provide services to children in the Agency's care, maintain records on the case management system, counsel individuals and families, participate in Family Group Conferencing to seek family and community-based solutions, and take on after-hours emergency duty on a rotational basis. They must also be willing to travel extensively to perform their duties.

Pay: $56,236.96-$87,052.16 per year
