As a Fabrication Shop Apprentice, you'll play a crucial role in our Custom Metal Fabrication Shop. You'll oversee the fabrication process, ensuring cost-effectiveness, safety, and exceptional quality. Your attention to detail will be vital in sourcing materials, estimating labor and time requirements, and raising our production standards above industry norms.
- Fabricate sub-assemblies, assemblies, and component parts based on work procedures, shop drawings, and specifications.
- Interpret blueprints and manufacturing schematics to ensure accurate assembly of components and products.
- Collaborate with the Fabrication Shop Supervisor to understand steel requirements and project goals.
- Conduct quality checks and verify conformance of workpieces to specifications using measuring tools.
- Operate a wide range of machinery, including drills, welding machines, saws, press brakes, shears, cutting torches, grinders, and plasma torches.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety procedures and promptly reporting maintenance needs, incidents, and near-misses.
- Support the annual inventory count and perform additional duties as assigned by Management.
**Qualifications**:
- 1-2 years of sheet metal apprentice experience.
- Post-secondary education degree is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50lbs.
