Overview:
The University of Waterloo seeks an Associate Provost, Campus Support and Accessibility who will play a key role in strategic planning and provide high-level vision and leadership in service to Waterloo’s mission. The Associate Provost will be accountable for advancing the campus experience for students, faculty, and staff through an integrated oversight structure that will provide leadership to these current administrative units: Occupational Health, the Conflict Management Office, the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office, AccessAbility Services, and Disability Inclusion. Other responsibilities may be added that are complementary to the work of this portfolio.

The Associate Provost, Campus Support and Accessibility is a member of Waterloo’s Executive Council and will report to the Vice-President, Academic and Provost. The Associate Provost supports Waterloo’s vision for a rewarding campus experience through policy development and leadership of service delivery portfolios, ensuing compliance with legislation, and providing guidance and counsel to senior leadership regarding a wide range of campus support and accessibility priorities.

Qualifications:

- A master's degree in a related field is required
- Broad experience in a senior leadership role within an academic environment or other relevant, complex environment
- Demonstrated creative, analytical thought leadership and the ability to nurture and foster collaboration and collegiality among a wide variety of stakeholders
- Knowledge and experience in implementing progressive policies, practices, and procedures that reflect a highly functioning, diverse portfolio
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic plans
- Understanding of code-based accommodations; and industry trends that advance accessibility; as well as relevant policies, procedures, best practices, and legal and legislative frameworks including pertinent sections of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and relevant case law
- Successful experience planning, leading, navigating, and affecting change/transformation within a complex environment
- Evidence of building and managing successful partnerships and results-oriented teams
- Experience and capacity to integrate equity, diversity, inclusion, and antiracism principles; act on workforce trends; and adapt to environmental changes to support a progressive, future-focused workplace and academic culture
