**Position**: Gardener/ Landscaper

**Primary Location**: Squamish

**Employment**: Seasonal with possibility of renewal

**Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Operate electric push lawn mower, edger, hedge trimmer and blower. Training will be provided.
- Use leaf blower to clear walkways and pedestrian areas after lawn and garden maintenance.
- Rake fallen leaves and remove debris.
- Remove weeds and dead plants; prune and shape overgrown limbs and leaves.
- Maintain the existing landscaping design and ensure plant survival (prune to remove damaged or dying plant life, water, pest control).
- Plant new seeds, flowers, trees, bushes, plants and decorative shrubs.
- Safely remove tree limbs, overgrowth, and other hazards.
- Spread fertilizer (organic, non-synthetic), plant food, mulch and other materials around plants.
- Ensure that personal property is not damaged (outdoor furniture, décor, irrigation and lighting). IF damage occurs, it must be promptly reported to supervisor who will inform customer.
- Properly store and handle all equipment (electric and non-electric), tools, sprinklers, etc. in a well organized, efficient and effective manner.
- Upholds the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times with an absence of quality related call-backs.
- Health & Safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment. Using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where necessary.
- Committed to clear, open communication. Relay messages as needed via appropriate chain of command.
- Able to work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions, and be able to perform maintenance duties while ensuring safety.
- Eager to continually improve, diversify and learn broader and deeper skills.
- Pre-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers.
- Ability to drive, reverse and park a pickup truck with dump trailer attached.
- Record keeping of hours using the Jobber app.

**Requirements and Qualifications**:

- Previous experience in landscaping, gardening or groundskeeping required (including knowledge of the characteristics and requirements of ornamental and edible plants, shrubs and trees adapted to the region).
- Post secondary /industry education of landscape maintenance skills, plants and equipment is an asset.
- Able to work independently and efficiently.
- Must be a reliable and dependable team player who has the ability to work well with others.
- Must be able to operate lawn maintenance equipment such as lawnmowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, etc.
- Must have the following PPE: steel toed boots appropriate for all weather conditions, gloves, sunscreen, eye protection, ear protection and rain gear.
- Able to physically stand, bend, squat for long periods of time, and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Strong worth ethic and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license a necessity. Qualified applicant may be required to submit driver’s abstract. Must have reliable transportation to downtown Squamish. Transportation between job sites provided.

**Terms**:

- Wage: $25-$30/hr dependant on experience. Opportunity for growth within the company.
- Part-time or full time position starts in March 2024 and ends November 2024 (20-40 hrs/week)
