The Manager, Project Accounting is responsible for overseeing the Project Accounting functions and ensuring accurate and timely reporting, invoicing and payment as well as provide performance reporting, analysis and support for the Project Accounting team.

An essential part of the role is to ensure connectivity and alignment with the Financial Controller, Contracts, Project Controls, Operations, Mobile Shop and Estimating team. In this context, the jobholder will be expected to work with all of these functions in both a support, and influencing/challenging capacity.

This position is also the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the project accounting arm of the department and is expected to be an integral part of any process improvement initiatives related to project accounting.
- Provide guidance to the Project Accounting (PA) team on contract terms, performance obligations, and proper invoicing/reporting practices.
- Supervise and mentor team members, fostering skill development and career growth.
- Oversee the accurate and timely completion of monthly financial reporting and analysis, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Lead monthly revenue and cost review meetings to drive collaboration and performance improvements across departments.
- Conduct project cash flow analysis and present findings to stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver variance reports and financial presentations.
- Ensure accurate preparation and submission of Labour, Equipment, and Materials (LEMs) and client billings, including required documentation (e.g., statutory declarations, clearance certificates).
- Support procurement and accounts payable teams by resolving cost coding, purchase order, and commitment discrepancies.
- Review and reconcile revenue and accrual entries with input from key departments.
- Identify and analyze performance variances, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
- Assist with monthly closing and billing cycles, supporting decision-making with detailed analysis and reporting.
- Lead cross-functional projects and collaborate on process improvements.
- Maintain project budgets and ensure compliance with accounting policies, principles, and contractual obligations.
- Develop performance dashboards and reports, leveraging metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with a CPA designation.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop a team.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills; experience with Oracle Fusion is considered an asset).
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
