**Membership Clerk**

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Maintains the First Nation Register and Nation member list for TFN by the submission of details such as births, deaths, marriages, reinstatement etc. to Indian and Norther Affairs Canada (INAC) on a regular basis;
- Notes any inconsistencies in the Nation’s Register and advise the Department of any required changes;
- Updates and/or changes members contact information such as mailing address;
- Obtains and examines supporting documents such as birth certificate and marriage certificate to determine their acceptability for registration;
- Prepares and completes all documents required for transfer of Band memberships;
- Prepares and assists with the completion of necessary documents required to the preparation of issuance of Secure Certificates of Indian Status;
- Issues Status Cards for authorized individuals in accordance with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) guidelines;
- Assists in organizing and preparing eligible voter lists for TFN elections and referendum questions;
- Maintain an effective filing system that includes the necessary reporting of Certificates of Indian Status on a regular basis along with an event reporting system for all transactions;
- Submit Registry and Band files for auditing as requested;
- Attends relevant training and workshops identified by the Manager to enhance program services;
- Monitors areas of responsibility for opportunities for improvement and innovation and works proactively to implement these;
- Attends departmental and staff meetings and events as required;
- Adheres to departmental policies and procedures, and all other policies, bylaws and laws adopted by Council as well as legislated policies;
- Ensures that service quality standards are maintained and consistently delivered in all areas of responsibility;
- Maintains strict confidentiality and exercises sound judgment and discretion when dealing with sensitive issues;
- Presents a professional, positive and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with clients, families, community and co-workers;
- Promotes a safe work place; ensures that all established safety procedures are followed;
- Carries out other duties essential to the position as directed by the Manager.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Grade 12 graduation (Dogwood or BC Adult Graduation Diploma);
- 3 years clerical / administrative support experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Membership Administration diploma an asset;
- Experience creating reports, spreadsheets, memos, messages etc. with Microsoft Office programs;
- Clear, current criminal record check;
- Valid class 5 BC driver’s license;
- Courses in office administration preferred.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
