The Role
Duties
1. Tool Repair and maintenance.
2. Supervision of all tool repair & tool maintenance staff as well as auditing the quality of the work performed before releasing to the floor.
3. Maintenance of tool preventive maintenance program and documentation.
4. Refining of tool maintenance frequency and work procedures to reduce tool breakdowns.
5. Identifies recurring tool failures and recommends measures to improve.
6. Submits suggestions to improve tooling build standards.
7. Maintains tooling repair and maintenance spare part inventory.
8. Will manage emergency tool repairs so as to minimize manufacturing downtime.
9. Will provide technical assistance to repair and maintenance staff or seek other assistance from Tool Room Manager or outside sources.
10. Will seek to improve the throughput and efficiency of available resources.
11. Will assist in emergency repairs when necessary.
12. Will support Tool Room Manager and/or Tool Room Supervisor with other duties as assigned.
13. Will work closely with production or scheduling to find the most convenient window time for tooling repairs or maintenance.
14. Will clearly communicate tooling status to production and will immediately notify production of any delays.
15. Manage repairs and maintenance so that they are completed on time.
16. Attend Production meetings to discuss scheduling for tool repairs, PM's, and other tooling related issues.
17. Assist in housekeeping of Tool Room area.
18. If a Work Order is received and the tool is not transferred to the Tool Room, the tool must be tracked down and brought to the shop.
19. Follow repair to the floor and ensure that the first off parts are acceptable.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Leadership Skills
2. Certified Mould Maker or equivalent
3. Communication skills.
4. Knowledge of Crane and Rigging.
5. Forms governing job function.
6. Understanding of key Quality & Environmental Management Systems procedures related to job function.
