**Job Description**:
RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead Information Services (IS) department operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation and planning projects.-
- Plan, direct and co-ordinate the management functions of Information Services, in accordance with CHEO’s mission, values, management philosophy, policies, procedures and philosophy of care.-
- Organize and negotiate allocation of operational and project resources.-
- Prioritize, approve and oversee project requests and the larger project portfolio.-
- Provide key communication link between CHEO management and clinicians and IS staff.-
- Guide clinical departments in defining their requirements for information systems.-
- Work with the Director, Digital Health to develop the clinical and organizational functionality needed to support CHEO’s information infrastructure.-
- Promote process redesign, integrating clinical, administrative and technical expertise.-
- Look for opportunities to optimize service to users while ensuring operations remain within allocated budget.Recruit, develop and retain staff. Foster a culture built on respect, trust, wellbeing and life-long learning.-
- Develop, implement and maintain IS policies and procedures-
- Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IS systems.-
- Responsible for the effective management of the eHealth budget - development, spending, optimization and tracking.-
- Support and facilitate strategic partnerships in the region and industry.-
- Collaborate with other Canadian healthcare facilities that have chosen the same vendors - sharing operational knowledge, as well as evaluating opportunities for more formal partnering.-
- Foster partnership and collaboration on shared initiatives within the shared EHR with SickKids Hospital-
- Oversee major system upgrades and change control in a shared EHR environment.-
- Participate in Digital Health governance committees and effectively use governance for timely decision-making.-
- Analyze the healthcare IT Industry, identifying new/viable technologies which may be useful to improve quality of patient care at CHEO or enhance the patient experience.-
- Ensure that employees are provided with and use the appropriate training and/or procedures, equipment, material to perform assigned duties.-
- Ensure that employees perform work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO Corporate/Departmental policies and procedures. Ensure that appropriate action is recommended for those employees who do not work in compliance with the Act.-
- Promote and facilitate collaboration and communication flow across Information Services-
- Represent the hospital by participating in meetings that focus on technology initiatives that may benefit the organization-
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.QUALIFICATIONS- Police Record Check (PRC) (Essential)-
- University Degree in a relevant field, Graduate certificate in Digital Health or similar program and/or experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance (Essential)-
- Minimum 5 years of related experience (Essential)-
- Comprehensively use relevant computer technology (Essential)Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing (Essential)-
- In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws (Essential)-
- Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures (Essential)-
