**LOCATION**

Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH is a vibrant community hospital delivering a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Directly serving a growing population of more than 60,000 residents spread across a mix of urban and rural settings, NHH directly employs approximately 750 people and relies on the additional support provided by a highly engaged and supportive network of physicians, midwives and volunteers.

**ROLE OVERVIEW**

Reporting to the Manager, Finance or desigante, the Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting day-to-day financial and accounting functions at NHH. The Financial Analyst is a proactive person who demonstrates ambition, curiosity, accountability and strives in a fast-paced work environment.
- Provides monthly variance analysis and helps Clinical teams understand their variances
- Supports financial related requests from the various Clinical teams
- Reconciles various accounts monthly (Bank, A/R, A/P, etc.)
- Prepares monthly journal entries
- Gathers department specific statistical information from EPIC for Trial Balance reporting
- Assists with quarterly financial and statistical reporting through the Self Reporting Initiative
- Assists with other quarterly and periodic external reporting requirements
- Works with the Pharmacy to monitor activity and report accurate monthly inventory expenses
- Supports the Finance Manager and CFO with special projects as assigned
- Contributes to the annual NHH budgeting process
- Supports the filing of monthly GST and HST
- Ensures capital asset information is entered into the asset management system
- Assists with gathering financial info for the annual financial audit
- Works regularly with key Finance members to sharpen the focus on NHH’s financial performance, while collaborating on finance projects
- Ongoing cross-training with other Finance members to expand skillset and ensure key financial deliverables for NHH are covered
- Attends monthly financial meetings and other meetings as required
- Serves as the first point of contact for Epic related accounting matters
- Meets regularly with Clinical managers to provide financial education and support

**QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS**
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance
- CPA, or working towards CPA is considered a major asset
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Minimum 2-years’ experience working in a financial analyst or accounting role
- Prior hospital experience considered an asset

- Solid understanding of accounting principles
- Ability to perform various types of financial analysis and reconciliations

- Demonstrated attention to detail and adherence to policies and protocol are required
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight timelines on a regular basis
- Plays a direct role in ensuring our working environment is safe and welcoming for everyone
- Is aware of his/her contribution to patient safety and ensures actions to support a patient safety culture

**EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS**

Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.

Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
