**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum Certificate of Qualifications at the Junior Cook Level 1
- At minimum, one cook (working 35 hours/week) must have a Chef Training or Culinary Management Diploma
- Food Safety Certificate
- Previous cooking experience in an institutional setting, preferably long-term care
- Demonstrate knowledge of safe food handling practices

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Prepare meals for residents following the regular and therapeutic menu, standardized recipes, and production scheduling and therapeutic and texture-modified diet guidelines
- Supporting resident preferences and choices
- Ensuring all meals are served attractively and garnished appropriately
- Ensuring meals are served on time, at appropriate temperatures and in portion-controlled quantities
- Implementing menu changes in the absence of the Food Service Supervisor
- Following departmental policies and procedures
- Following safe food handling practices and sanitation regulations
- Assuming responsibility for routine department operations in the absence of the Food Service Supervisor-placing orders, receiving food, supplies
- Directing dietary aides in basic food preparation and meal service procedures
- Preparing food for cooking: cleaning and processing all raw ingredients
- Serving meals to residents following the posted dietary guidelines and resident preferences

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 0-35 per week
