**GENERAL FUNCTION**:
Reporting to the Rapid Rehousing Team Lead, this position will be part of a multi-faceted team that oversees the creation and operation of safe, affordable, hopeful communities of housing and shared spaces across a spectrum of affordability, location, size, permanence, and support. Housing Workers, alongside Supportive Community Workers, the Clinical Support Lead, and various community partners, will provide an intensive, housing-focused program, moving people from homelessness to permanent housing which meets their needs and goals within an accelerated timeline.

**RAPID REHOUSING HOUSING WORKER ROLE-SPECIFIC DUTIES & DETAILS**:

- The following duties are typical for this position. Successful applicants may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address changing needs and best practices._

**Responsibilities include**:
**Housing**
- Assist with income support (social assistance, education, training, employment)
- Discuss housing goals and develop Housing Plan
- Work with residents to create budgets
- Support housing search (review listings, assist with calls to landlords, attend showings)
- Provide advocacy, mediation, and system navigation
- Create a Moving Plan for transition from Rapid Rehousing Centre to permanent housing, including assistance with giving notice, packing, planning, referral to Furniture Bank services, and cleaning
- Develop a Housing Sustainability Plan with residents in preparation for transition to permanent housing
- Work through the Housing Sustainability Process in the event of challenges to support residents to stay stably housed
- Work with the team to conduct a wrap-up interview with each resident to seek input regarding our premises, services, and supports
- Daily HIFIS entry
- Data entry (case notes, incident reporting)
- Engaged participation in interdisciplinary support with residents and community partners
- Attendance and participation in staff meetings
- Contribution to the continued analysis and adjustments of systems and processes to ensure Redwood’s ongoing provision of safe, affordable, hopeful housing and supportive community

**Supportive Community**
- Work closely with the Supportive Community Team to provide assistance and supports to residents at the Rapid Rehousing Centre as needed
- Work closely with community partners to help residents develop long-term support networks

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Social Services, Sociology, or related field (post-secondary students will be considered)
- Additional degrees and/or certifications is a plus (Level C First Aid, NVCI)
- Lived experience and/or working experience in communities we support is an asset
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, may be exposed to various types of escalation
- Extensive knowledge of the non-profit space, particularly in the context of affordable housing and the Housing First strategy
- Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with diverse people
- Experience with Microsoft Office and G Suite
- Experience with HIFIS
- Valid G Class licence with a clean driver’s abstract a benefit
- Growth mindset and a willingness to learn and grow (thirst for knowledge, openness to feedback, embracing failure, flexibility and adaptability, and problem-solving skills)
- Demonstrated ability to respond innovatively to systemic challenges and roadblocks
- Solutions-oriented approach to challenge and conflict management
- Self-starter who works well independently and within a team
- Ability to prioritize given tasks and work efficiently towards completing them

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 18 weeks
Part-time hours: 8-20 per week
