Job Summary:
As a Banquet Hall Chef at Pickering Event Centre, you will be responsible for creating and executing exceptional culinary experiences for various events, including weddings, corporate functions, parties, and other special occasions. Your expertise in Western, Caribbean, and South-Asian cuisines will play a vital role in delivering diverse and delicious menus. You will lead the kitchen team, oversee food preparation and presentation, and ensure high-quality service to exceed guests' expectations.

**Responsibilities**:
Menu Planning and Preparation:Develop creative and diverse menus that incorporate Western, Caribbean, and South-Asian cuisines, catering to different tastes and dietary requirements.
Research and stay updated on food trends and culinary techniques related to the specified cuisines.
Plan and execute recipes and cooking techniques to achieve exceptional flavor, presentation, and overall dining experience.
Ensure the availability of necessary ingredients and supplies for efficient food preparation.

Food Preparation and Presentation:
Oversee and participate in the preparation, cooking, and plating of all food items, ensuring consistency and high standards of taste, appearance, and quality.
Ensure proper portion control and presentation of dishes according to established guidelines.
Monitor food production levels during events, adjusting as needed to meet demand without compromising quality.
Follow proper food handling and storage practices to maintain freshness, quality, and food safety.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:
Lead and supervise the kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and professional growth.
Collaborate with event planners and coordinators to understand event requirements, preferences, and dietary restrictions.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely and coordinated service delivery.

Quality Control and Sanitation:
Conduct regular quality checks of ingredients, food products, and equipment to ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
Monitor and maintain kitchen cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Implement and enforce proper food storage, handling, and labeling practices.
Address any food quality or safety concerns promptly and take corrective actions as necessary.

**Requirements**:

- Food Handling certificate required
- Proven experience as a chef, preferably in a banquet or event setting.
- Expertise in Western, Caribbean, and South-Asian cuisines, with the ability to create authentic and flavorful dishes.
- Strong knowledge of food trends, culinary techniques, and ingredients related to the specified cuisines.
- Experience in menu planning, recipe development, and execution of diverse menus.
- Leadership skills and the ability to supervise and motivate a kitchen team.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations and practices.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Drivers Licence

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 30 per week

**Salary**: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
