**Parks Canada in Dawson City, Yukon is looking for a qualified person to join our fantastic Asset team.**

As Building Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the work of the skilled and semi-skilled Maintenance Team at Klondike National Historic Sites.

Your role as supervisor is to manage the time, resources and personnel available for the broad range of work that is performed at KNHS. Areas of work include fire safety and other life safety systems, plumbing and electrical, HVAC, grounds keeping, and fleet management.

In collaboration with the Technical Services Coordinator, you will plan and manage projects, while ensuring the health and safety of your team and delivering high quality work. You will conduct performance reviews with your staff throughout the year to set goals and follow up on progress, and work with your staff to meet the goals of the site and team.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the preservation of a vibrant and unique historic site.

**Intent of the process**:
The intent of this process is to hire a 9-month term, acting or assignment-at-level from March 2023 until January 2024.

For this process, we expect to conduct the interview and other assessments in late February.

**What are we looking for?**

**EDUCATION**:
Secondary school diploma or equivalent or an acceptable combination of experience, education and training.

**OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION**:
Possession of a valid Yukon or Interprovincial Journeyman’s Certification in a trade.

**EXPERIENCE**:

- Experience in supervising a diverse team including performance management, training and managing change within the team.
- Experience in managing multiple projects and maintenance schedules with various timelines and complexities.
- Experience in evaluating multiple project plans and organizing the materials and resources to complete the project.
- Experience in the safe use, operation and maintenance of a range of manual tools, power tools and test equipment used in the building and fleet maintenance and construction trades.

**KNOWLEDGE**:

- Knowledge of Occupational health and safety regulations and practices.
- Knowledge of building techniques, codes and standards related to building trades.
- Knowledge of building maintenance procedures.

**ABILITIES**:

- Ability to use basic computer programs for regular daily tasks including record data and maintain computerized records and logs.
- Ability to review and interpret building and construction plans to determine, calculate and specify material quantities and costs, labour time and costs and organize and assign the workload.
- Ability to lead and work with team members to analyze and solve problems, make decisions and to achieve a common goal of completing work tasks.

**ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE**:

- Experience working in and delivering services to a northern and/or isolated community.

**OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS**:
This position requires the incumbent to:

- Use appropriate safety equipment and prescribed protective equipment at all times in the performance of duties.
- Wear a Parks Canada uniform.
- Work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays.
- Work in conditions of weather extremes, heights and enclosed spaces.
- Successfully complete safety courses and training, as required.
- Due to the operational nature of this position, remote work is not available.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Reliability Status security clearance.
- Possess and maintain a valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent.
- Successfully pass and maintain pre-employment Occupational Health Assessment and periodic medical checks.
