**Paving Superintendent**

Reporting to the Construction Manager and/or Project Manager, the Paving Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing paving crews ensuring that projects are completed within the established parameters, as well as on time and within the targeted budget, all the while keeping safety top of mind. This is a full-time permanent position available with competitive wages and a benefits package.

**JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Participate in job / project planning.
- Oversee paving crew(s)
- Understand and comply with estimates, specifications, and project schedules.
- Maintain records surrounding labor, material costs, owned and rented equipment, tracking inventory of materials and supplies to ensure all is within budget and on hand when required.
- Inspect and review the quality of work.
- Liaise with managers to keep them informed of any potential scheduling issues and determine the course for corrective action.
- Communicate and oversee on-site safety program and promote the importance of health and safety in the field.
- Display professionalism toward our company and customers
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures: safety standards operations, maintenance, training, cleanliness standards, etc.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor

**JOB QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**:

- 10+ years of experience in asphalt paving (MTO/Municipal projects).
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role.
- Relevant post-secondary education, Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering is considered an asset.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, as well as proposals/contracts.
- Strengths in areas of safety, scheduling, cost management, QC.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to identify performance gaps, coaching and mentoring crews appropriately to build an efficient team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work full days Monday -Friday and the occasional Saturday as required during the Summer.
- Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
