**Title: Financial Counsellor**

Community Financial Counselling Services (CFCS) is a non-profit United Way Agency that provides counselling to Manitobans who are experiencing difficulty and/or barriers to service. CFCS utilizes a Financial Empowerment model of poverty reduction in providing coaching, counselling, financial literacy/counselling, tax preparation and access to benefit services to low-income Manitobans.

**Job description**:
The Financial Counsellor’s role is to provide financial counselling services to clients under the supervision and direction of the Senior Financial Counsellor and Executive

**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS**:

- Post-secondary degree, preferably in a counselling related discipline (Social

Work, Human Ecology)
- 1 to 3 years of counselling experience
- Experience in inter-organizational service delivery and the ability to build relationships/partnerships with a diverse group of organizations.
- Experience working in a financial institution/credit or financial counselling organization working with diverse, culturally, and economical population, is an asset.
- Ability to interact with a culturally and economically diverse client population.
- Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, clients, creditors and collateral agencies’ service users and staff.
- Basic knowledge of financial issues relating to credit, debt, budgeting, money management as well as tax knowledge.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Knowledge of the voluntary sector and community agencies.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing required for travel to rural communities.
- Proficiency with technology and computer programs including: Microsoft Office

Suite, UFile Tax Software, Databases, etc.
- Ability and positive willingness to adapt to new procedures and processes.
- Solid integrity and respect for confidentiality.

**Job Type**: Full time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $40,000 per year
