Pay Grid: Social worker ($80,371.20 - $91,673.40 annually)

Reporting to: Director of Lil’wat Child and Family Services

Summary of Duties:
The Resource Support Worker will coordinate and facilitate cultural knowledge transfer and planning through traditional teachings and ceremonies to Lil'wat Caregivers within a safe and culturally appropriate environment. The Resource Support Worker will work to enhance cultural awareness, safety, and competency within the Lil’wat community while fostering healing and reconciliation on the path toward child welfare jurisdiction.

Key Deliverables and Expectations:

- Coordinate quarterly meetings with foster parents in the community to facilitate learning and development.
- Establish a caregiver support circle.
- Collaborate with MCFD Resource Workers to identify caregiver needs and facilitate training for caregivers within the community.
- Aid potential foster parents in completing caregiver forms and ensure their participation in mandatory training sessions, either individually or in groups.
- Liaise with other departments within Lil’wat Child and Family Services and conduct outreach to external organizations.
- Procure, maintain, and manage educational tools and resources related to culture and language restoration.
- Conduct training sessions and provide space for traditional arts and crafts, traditional medicine, traditional foods, and land-based activities.
- Establish connections with traditional resource people and Elders to conduct ceremonies appropriate to the geographic areas and customs.
- Plan and coordinate the annual "Bringing Home our Children" event.
- Engage with the community to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
- Organize traditional dancing, singing, drumming, community and seasonal celebrations, feasts, and traditional and social events to facilitate knowledge exchange between Elders and families.
- Collaborate with Lil’wat Child and Family staff to develop culture-based work plans.
- Work with local stakeholders and institutions to promote cultural competency and awareness.
- Create and maintain a reliable directory of traditional knowledge and Elder resources.
- Prepare quarterly reports as required.
- Perform other related duties as requested.

Experience and Attributes:

- Bachelor’s degree in social work or equivalent required
- 1-2 years’ experience working with First Nations communities and families.
- Demonstrated knowledge of First Nations cultures, particularly Lil’wat Nation.
- Previous experience in practicing and facilitating culturally appropriate events and workshops.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and effective time management abilities.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and multitask while maintaining confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Professional demeanor in all interactions with community partners and members.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Clear drivers abstract.
