**Reporting to**:Principal/Counseling Team Lead
**Summary** **of** **Duties**:
The Social Worker provides support services to XCS students both on and off reserve and provides trauma and culturally informed services to students aged 4-18 within a school-based setting, based on training and scope of practice. The Social Worker has the ability to connect, build and maintain safe relationships with students and their family who want to engage in support.
**Key** **Deliverables** **and** **Expectations**:
- Provide individual and group prevention and skill enhancement services as needed.
- Provide confidential support and connection to children and youth aged 4-18 and carry a caseload of individual clients, co-facilitate group therapy and maintain appropriate records.
- Be prepared and comfortable presenting psychoeducation to students in their classrooms (including but not limited to boundaries, abuse prevention, healthy relationships, and mental health information as needed and requested by teaching staff and administration).
- Participate in school-based teams, inter-agency teams and develop mental health resources when needed
- Liaise and attend meetings with other health care professionals and service providers when requested by clients (to best support a circle of care and mental health) and with appropriate informed consent.
- Be available for debriefing and support for staff regarding mental health in the classroom and to support the mental health of the students on your caseload
- Facilitate culturally safe education programs on a variety of topics geared towards families.
- Establish and maintain professional files while maintaining confidentiality.
- Maintain weekly updates with supervisor regarding all assigned students.
- Maintain monthly records of work completed and in manner assigned.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
**Experience** **and** **Attributes**:
- Completion of a minimum Bachelor’s in Social Work, preferred Masters in Social Work ; Registered Social Worker or Clinical Counsellor required. (Wage listed is reflective of a Registered Social Worker).
- Education and previous relevant work experience with First Nations people in related services, minimum of two years of work experience preferred. Previous experience in Lil’wat community is an asset.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Knowledge of effective and evidence-based parenting approaches.
- Knowledge of financial management, household routines, and stress management.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to strict confidentiality requirements.
- Demonstrated skills in planning, organizing and researching.
- Ability to work effectively with a team and establish good working relationships with clients and staff.
- Strong stress management skills, initiative, positive approach, and ability to work independently.
- Comfortable using various means of technology (computer, cell phone, virtual meeting platforms).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Highly professional in all aspects of business and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and Members.
- Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check, vulnerable sector.
- Must have a valid Class 5 license and a reliable vehicle for traveling and transporting when required.
