Edmonton, Canada Newly Weds Foods CO Full time

**General Function**

Responsible for the purchasing of both inventoried and consumable material in a food manufacturing environment and assisting the purchasing manager with Purchasing contracts negotiations, RFQ’s, freight logistics, cost reduction and other processes.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the full circle of raw materials purchasing. Creating strategies to ensure the best price, quality, reliability, availability, and inventory for raw materials
- Cultivating relationships with suppliers and customers to keep them informed of market news
- Expedite deliveries and manage supplier relationships to minimize operational disruptions.
- Identifying new sources for commodities and comparing suppliers to find the best options
- Prepares non-inventory log for MRO’s and tracks outstanding MRO’s.
- Oversees lot control implementation.
- Arranging transportation / logistics for inbound freight.
- Liaises with customer service, production, quality control, warehouse and R&D personnel to discuss any problems with purchasing or shipping and any other relevant information
- Backup for the purchasing manager and cross-trained for all department team members.
- Coordinate with Accounts Payable/Receivable Department for any billing or invoicing issues.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

**Work Environment**
- General office environment in a food manufacturing facility.

**A) Knowledge and Experience**

1. Grade 12, Post-secondary education and/or PMAC certification is an asset.

2. Experience in purchasing in an ERP environment.

3. Preference for those with purchasing experience in the food manufacturing industry.

4. Commodities buying experience; duties including market research, negotiating deals with suppliers, researching alternate or new materials.

5. Knowledge of Inventory management and control disciplines and computerized inventory record keeping systems.

6. Experience with transportation and logistics.

7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in purchasing activities.

8. Proactive ability to get work done independently and within policy guidelines.

9. Organization, accuracy and computer skills.

10. Preference for those with experience in the food manufacturing industry.

**B) Authority**
- Recommend solutions to correct product quality deficiencies.
- To initiate action to prevent the occurrence of product non-conformity.
- To initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
- To verify the implementation of solutions.
- To control further processing, delivery or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
