- About this opportunity:

- We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager of Compensation to join our exceptional team. You have strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across the organization and within the Human Resources function. You have experience overseeing complex compensation programs in multiple geographies.

What you’ll do:
- Plan, develop and implement comprehensive global and regional compensation strategies, policies, and programs aligned with the company's objectives and industry best practices.-
- Lead the design, analysis, and administration of executive and employee compensation plans, including fixed rate pay, salary structures, variable pay, and equity-based compensation.-
- Design creative solutions to address specific compensation-related needs.-
- Drive the annual compensation review process, including performance-based pay decisions, merit increases, and long-term incentive allocations.-
- Ensure programs are consistently administered in alignment with internal policies and legislated requirements.-
- Conduct market research and oversee benchmarking to ensure competitive compensation practices and compliance with regulatory requirements.-
- Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommend changes based on trends in the market and corporate objectives.-
- Collaborate and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including HR, finance, legal, and senior leadership, to align compensation programs with organizational goals and objectives.-
- Provide expert guidance and support to senior management and HR partners on compensation-related matters.-
- Manage the communication and education of compensation programs to employees and leaders at all levels, ensuring transparency and understanding across the organization.-
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, legislation, and market practices in compensation and benefits to inform continuous improvement initiatives.-
- Prioritize, organize, and direct a team of compensation advisors to support global priorities while aligning to Cenovus goals.Who you are:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.-
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business/Commerce, with a concentration in Human Resources, Finance, or related field.-
- Minimum of 10-12+ years of progressive experience in compensation and 2 years leadership experience preferred.-
- Knowledge of Canadian and US employment standards and regulations.-
- Strong understanding of compensation principles, methodologies, and regulatory requirements, with experience in job levelling, benchmarking, variable pay and equity incentive plan design.-
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, with the ability to drive initiatives from concept to implementation in a fast-paced environment.-
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.-
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.-
- HR designation (e.g., CPHR, SHRM, CCP) considered an asset.-
