The Canadian Animal Blood Bank (CABB) is a not-for-profit (CRA-registered charity) that helps save animals' lives by making high-quality canine blood products available for veterinary patient care. We engage pet owners to volunteer their qualified dogs to participate in whole blood collections. The blood is collected, locally processed, and then made available to veterinary hospitals across Canada. The CABB strives to educate veterinarians and Animal Health Technologists in transfusion medicine and to alert and engage the public in responding to this need for animal blood products.

Our vision is to develop a network of regional processing centers nationwide that will enable the CABB to readily supply veterinary hospitals with the products they need on an overnight or faster basis. Currently, the CABB operates in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec with our center of operations based out of Manitoba.

As the CABB’s Chief Operating Officer, you will collaborate with the CABB Board of Directors and the CABB Foundation Board of Directors to lead the company’s mission, vision, and strategic direction with an emphasis on short-term organizational goals and overseeing daily operations.

Principle Duties:

- Lead the organization by implementing the strategies set by the Canadian Animal Blood Bank and the Canadian Animal Blood Bank Foundation Boards.
- Act as the lead spokesperson for the organization
- Engage the public in the organization's goals and promote awareness
- Human Resource Management
- Ensure and implement appropriate policies and standard operating procedures and monitor for compliance
- Oversee finances of the Organization through budget management and detailed reports
- Develop actionable strategies and plans that are in alignment with the organization’s short and long-term goals

Qualifications:

- University degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Bachelor of Commerce (BCom)
- Experience in a business leadership role
- Communication and leadership skills for managing a virtual team

Assets:

- Basic understanding of Haematology and blood banking
- Bilingual in English and French
- Degree in Education or experience as an educator
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience working in the national not-for-profit industry and/or charitable organizations

Compensation:
Base salary of $80,000 with performance-based bonuses
