**Working for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology**

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a Centre of Excellence in education, research and clinical care in women's health.

The department has five academic divisions, 19 full-time academic faculty members, and over 100 clinical academic colleagues in general obstetrics and gynecology. Our faculty members encompass the full range of academic medicine including Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, Gynecological Oncology, Reproductive Sciences and Urogynecology.

**Position Summary**

The Research Technician will perform routine administrative tasks associated with lab management: ordering, maintaining lab order, cleanliness, and safety, assist with mouse experiments, particularly breeding and necropsies, some tissue and fluid analyses (qPCR, ELISA, multiplex), maintain a detailed and precise notebook, perform some data organization and analysis, and support as necessary provide undergraduate, graduate and PDF trainees.

**Duties**
- Participate in Mouse Necropsies
- Experience and competence in all biological assays, including the levels of protein and RNA (e.g. ELISA, Bioplex/Multiplex, western immunoblotting, qPCR), related to the animal (and human) tissues and fluids.
- Responsible for maintaining all records related to animal experiments ensuring all protocols are followed, maintaining the data associated with the samples, and performing some statistical analysis of data and drawing of Tables, charts and figures using computer-based drawing programs
- The position may require flexibility in hours due to breeding, the timing of treatments or collection of samples with pregnant animals.
- Maintaining lab cleanliness and lab records of all solutions and hazardous materials is essential

**Qualifications**
- A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field
- Two to three years of lab research
- Experience with qPCR, western immunoblotting, ELISA assays and Bioplex/Multiplex operation
- Demonstrated experience with the Scientific Method, laboratory techniques and laboratory protocols
- Prior experience with handling mice and mouse necropsies is required
