**Job Description**:
Description of Position:
Part-time temporary instructor to teach LIBR 1111: Online Search and Information Handling.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain currency and strive for excellence in instructional practices and approaches.
Ensure effective use of available class and lab time, and maintain appropriate office hours to ensure availability for student consultation.
Maintain collegial working relationships.
As appropriate, actively seek opportunities to integrate students and learning into organizations and/or the community.
On an as needed basis, participate actively in program design and review.
On an as needed basis, teach other courses in the program as appropriate to background and experience.
Be a positive and active contributor to the Library and Information Technology department, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Management, and the College.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree _in Library & Information Sciences (MLIS)_
Minimum five years of related professional experience.
Lived experience with the course material.
Post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
Availability to teach on campus is required (schedule to be determined) though course will initially be taught online.
Length of appointment: September 1 - December 31, 2024.
Start Date: September 1, 2024. (Instructors new to Langara have a one time, additional month of paid preparation time)
Salary Range: Salary placement is on Langara instructors’ salary scale in accordance with qualifications and experience.
