The Continuing Education department of Champlain College Saint-Lambert requires the services of an HOURLY INSTRUCTOR to teach the course BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL ADJUSTMENT (351-224-LA).

In this course, students are introduced to diverse client groups with special needs, such as, Mental Health Issues, Physical and Neurological Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities and Aging and Loss of Autonomy. Students are expected to identify the main traits and characteristics related to each client group and are required to know the professional terminology associated with each. Students will develop a global understanding of the way biological, psychological and social factors impact adjustment and the overall functioning of the person. Students are introduced to the different classification tools used in the assessment process, such as the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, (ICF) and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5).

**Required Qualifications**:
Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in a related discipline and 2 years teaching experience.
Teaching experience in special care counselling or a related program is an asset.
An excellent knowledge of the diverse client groups in the special care counselling field is required.
Work experience in the Special Care Counselling field is also an asset.
This course is taught in English; proficiency in English is required.

Thursdays 1-4 pm
(EXCEPT: June 6 & 20; July 25; Aug. 1)

The schedule may change based on the needs of the program.

This course is taught in English. The selected incumbent will be required to work in English.
