The Thrift Warehouse Store Associate plays a crucial role within SIRCH Community Services, ensuring the smooth operation of the Thrift Warehouse while embodying our commitment to community resilience and leveling the playing field for all. As the frontline representative of the Thrift Warehouse, this role involves providing exceptional customer service, assisting donors, managing donations, and supporting overall store operations. Through their daily work, the Thrift Warehouse Store Associate will have a positive impact on customers, donors, and the broader community, reinforcing SIRCH’s mission of fostering positive change and inclusivity.

**RESPONSIBILITES**
**Safety and Security**:

- Ensure the safety and security of customers, volunteers, and staff.
- Take responsibility for daily and overall safety, ensuring a safe environment for self and others.
- Maintain knowledge of legislative and company policies, such as Health & Safety Regulations, and ensure compliance.

**Customer and Donor Relations**:

- Act as the initial point of contact, providing courteous and diplomatic service to customers and donors.
- Demonstrate high sensitivity to customer service, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
- Serve as a role model for volunteers, demonstrating the expected behavior when interacting with customers.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints professionally and efficiently, escalating to management when necessary.

**Policy Adherence and Operations**:

- Ensure adherence to Thrift Store policies and procedures.
- Manage cash handling, including cheques, credit card processing, and daily banking, while following cash management policies.
- Assess and determine whether to accept or refuse donations based on store policies

**Store Maintenance**:

- Assist with daily cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a clean, organized store environment.

**Inventory Management**:

- Assist in sorting, organizing, and restocking donated items to ensure efficient use of floor space and maintain product quality standards.
- Help track inventory levels and notify the Thrift Warehouse Manager of low stock or high-demand items.

**Merchandising and Display**:

- Support the creation of attractive, well-organized displays to enhance the shopping experience and maximize sales potential.
- Rotate and replenish merchandise to keep the store fresh and appealing.

**Team Support and Training**:

- Assist in training new volunteers and staff members in store operations, customer service, and health & safety policies.
- Provide guidance to volunteers, ensuring they adhere to store procedures and deliver high-quality service.

- Experience working with the public and in a Customer Service role

**WORKING CONDITIONS & PERKS**
- Physical Effort:The job requires a large amount of walking, and lifting pushing and pulling of items up to 50lbs.
- Willing to work partially outdoors in the summer
- SIRCH is an Ontario Living Wage member and rates change annually every November
- 90 day probation
- Staff discount

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $20.60 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week

Flexible language requirement:

- French not required

Work Location: In person
