- Reporting to the Facility Permitting Coordinator, the Facility Permitting Team Leader will work closely with the Facility Permitting Coordinator to ensure effective management and leadership of the Permit Unit. _
- The Facility Permitting Team Leader will supervise the day to day operations of the Permit Unit to ensure fair and equal community access to facilities in approximately 600 TDSB schools, in accordance with the TDSB Community Use of Schools Policy. _
- The Facility Permitting Team Leader will assist the Coordinator to establish procedures and schedules for the provision of facility permitting services and develop strategies to maximize efficiency by upgrading/ enhancing permitting and scheduling technologies to meet the ever increasing demand for service.**Summary of Duties**:

- Work closely with the Coordinator to manage the day to day operations of the Permit Unit to ensure effective service delivery, prompt and accurate revenue collection and accounting, and customer satisfaction to internal and external clients;
- Supervise, train, coach and provide leadership to motivate staff and to facilitate team building necessary to increase productivity;
- Conduct staff performance reviews, recruit, interview and make recommendations to hire staff;
- Provide guidance on approaches to deal with unusual situations or emergencies;
- Identify and trouble shoot issues/ problems/ inequities related to customers, permitted facilities, delivery of service or permitting systems technology;
- Ensure all TDSB policies, standards and procedures related to facility permitting are consistently applied;
- Liaise and work closely with TDSB staff and community to ensure coordination of permits and usage of schools and facilities;
- Prepare reports regarding facility permitting (e.g. permitting revenues, space, Board and Committee reports);
- Prepare communiqués for distribution on Direct Line;
- Assist the Coordinator with the preparation of the Unit’s budget;
- Chair and participate in meetings both internally and externally;
- Liaise with Information Technology staff to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of services and with software vendors for upgrades/enhancements;
- Monitor and maintain permits agreements between TDSB and the City of Toronto;
- Liaise with various TDSB staff in the coordination of permits and usage of school spaces/ facilities;
- In the absence of the Permit Coordinator, take full responsibility for the operation of the Permit office;
- Provide leadership in fostering equity and inclusiveness in the development and implementation of programs and services; and
- Other duties as assigned
- Three year community college diploma (e.g., Business Administration) with four years of progressively responsible supervisory and customer service experience in a related property management environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with staff, trustees, community members, stakeholders, customers, etc.;
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills;
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills including report writing, presentation and group facilitation skills;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- Conflict resolution and mediation skills;
- Understanding and knowledge of related Board policies, procedures, collective agreement provisions and fee structure related to the permitting of facilities;
- Proven ability in promoting equitable practices which value inclusiveness and diversity;

- Property Management certification
- Understanding of facility operations and roles that support it (e.g., family team leaders, head caretakers)

**Special Requirements**:

- Some travel requiredMust be able to work flexible hours to meet department needs
