**About us**:
**Job Purpose**:
Machine Shop Manager provides shop floor Support by directing and overseeing the effective and efficient operation of manufacturing methods and processes in machining. Initiates improvements in current manufacturing methods and processes to improve part quality, schedule performance and to reduce manufacturing costs. Responsible for quality and on time delivery of all machined parts produced in the machine shop.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the coordination of all machine shop work and delegate work to the CNC set-up individuals including CNC milling operators, CNC turning operators, manual machinists
- Supervise deburring and finishing of parts
- Supervise that machines are being properly maintained daily i.e.: coolant, chip removal, cleaning of machines
- Ensure all necessary shop supplies are ordered and kept in good repairs
- Support and mentor Team Leads
- Stay informed of upgrade software and troubleshoot problems
- Work with the day and night shift employees to solve any conflicts or concerns
- Ensures the safety of all employees is the first priority in all activities continuously leads a comprehensive safety education and training process in conjunction with the company’s health and safety manager and/ or designate to prevent injuries or potential accidents. Comply with all federal, provincial and local environmental and safety regulations as per WSIB and company health and safety policies
- Leads and supports Continuous Improvement projects in area
- Develops and maintains capacity models and manages resources in accordance with anticipated demand.
- Maintain a culture within the plant that understands and supports the company’s vision, mission and strategy
- Collaborates with procurement on outsourcing requirements as necessary
- Supports and sets expectations for quality manufacturing processes with control plans, which ensures only products that meet or exceed customer expectations are shipped.
- Works as required with the project management and/or engineering teams on new product costing/ development and business growth opportunities by efficiently providing accurate manufacturing/ processing information and prototype machine designs
- Works with controller and finance team on short/long range goals

**Job Requirements**:

- Bachelors degree preferred.
- Minimum 5-10 years equivalent experience in CNC Machining or directly managing/ supervising machinists in a customized, high volume production environment
- High attention to detail and superior knowledge of machine drawings
- Sound knowledge and demonstrable success of working in a production environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be self motivated
- Knowledge of MasterCam and/or Epicor will be an asset
- A working knowledge of the occupational Health & Safety Act, the industrial Regulations, and the Employment Standards Act
- Must be able to demonstrate successful management skills including coaching and mentoring employee development
- Clearly understand problems and makes sound decisions to resolve discrepancies and errors
- Able to work in the machine shop floor environment, around machinery
- Ability to climb, walk, light lifting etc.
