**POSITION TITLE**: MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN

**DEPARTMENT**: SUPPORT SERVICES YOUTH HUDDLE

**POSITION REPORTS TO**: MANAGER OF INTEGRATION AND INNOVATION

***: The Youth Huddle Mental Health Clinician will work as a part of the service team in our Integrated Youth Huddle; a highly collaborative partnership between agencies and organizations. The Youth Huddle is intended to be a one-stop-shop for youth to have ease of access to mental and physical health, addictions, financial and employment supports, culturally appropriate Indigenous counselling, supports, events and activities as well as opportunities to connect with their community and each other through structured educational programming, and events. This program is designed to help youth (12 - 29) reach their goals and highest potential.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Youth Huddle Mental Health Clinician will be the primary staff person for providing individual, group, and family clinical interventions and educational sessions for youth in the Integrated Youth Huddle program.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES**

Function and duties include but are not limited to the following:

- Assess participant need for mental health supports and interventions
- Assess and plan actions with the participant around readiness to make change, setting self -determined goals, acquiring critical skills and resources and coordinating supports.
- Understand and consistently practice confidentiality and privacy standards
- Complete mental health and addictions assessments and complete crisis and wellness plans
- Establish therapeutic goals with individuals and groups
- Case coordination and administration for participants accessing multiple services through the Youth Huddle
- Deliver counselling and/or other clinical supports to participants
- Complete holistic client assessments
- Collect and maintain statistics for evaluation and reporting purposes
- Provide clinical consultation and collaboration with Youth Huddle staff where applicable
- Liaise with the youth or young adult participants external supports as required
- Participate in project research and evaluation including the development and collection of indicators and outcome measures
- Support community engagement activities
- Participate as a member of the service delivery team
- Maintain and update documentation and statistical data as prescribed
- Contribute to agency-wide initiatives to advance the mission and ends of the organization

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION**:

- BSW (eligibility for registration with the Manitoba College of Social Workers) or other professional association appropriate to degree and training
- Two plus years experience supporting youth (up to age 29) in a counselling, case management, or other clinical role
- Knowledge of mental health, mental illness, substance use, harm reduction principles
- Strong knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation

**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE**:

- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous populations, the impact of colonization on Canada’s Indigenous peoples, the historical and continuing impact of the residential school system, and traditional Indigenous healing and wellness beliefs, practices, and support agencies
- An understanding of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and community services
- Knowledge of settlement services and the impacts of immigration on newcomer youth
- Knowledge of local mental health and addictions system and community services
- Must have recent satisfactory criminal records check/vulnerable persons, and recent satisfactory abuse registry checks
- Valid drivers’ license
