Position: Turtle Island Neighborhood Centre Coordinator

Classification: Permanent Full-Time

Location: Turtle Island Community Centre

Starting Salary: Negotiable

**Background**:
The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre entered discussions with external resources around the

possibility of joint programming delivered within TINC. Conversations were held with young people who

currently attended TINC for various activities to gain their perspectives on what is important. As a result of

consultations with youth of the Turtle Island Neighborhood Centre the following objectives were created

**Objective**:
To develop and deliver enhanced recreation, leadership, and cultural programming:
Establishing a youth council who will meet regularly to provide their voice to the directions that the

programming is taking, and to serve as a form of internal assessment of progress.

To develop stronger capacity within TINC partnerships to develop, deliver and coordinate activities

to the benefit of participating young people.

**Qualifications**:

- Youth Care Certificate or other related diploma’s/certificates
- Knowledge and understanding of Youth programming
- Ability to complete budgets, quarterly reports to funders
- Ability to work under demanding conditions
- Independent problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- provide monthly reports to the funders
- Experience in supervising staff
- Ability to delegate tasks to staff and volunteer’s
- Ability to work with collateral agencies
- Understanding of Indigenous and community issues
- Knowledge and skills to work with various age groups
- Computer skills would be an asset
- Strong motivational and leadership skills
- Be a team player/facilitator
- Time Management skills
- Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle would be an asset
