**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this position you will plan, develop implement and maintain the technical components of the Wildlife Research and Monitoring Section (WRMS) programs, and assist in administrative and health and safety functions of WRMS field operations.

**How do I qualify?**:
**Mandatory requirements**:

- You must be willing to be vaccinated for rabies and maintain an adequate antibody titre annually.

**Lab and field expertise**:

- You have demonstrated experience working in both lab and field environments, experience with logistics and field station operation and ability to train and instruct seasonal and classified staff to meet targets and objectives established by the program.
- You have expertise with the capture and handling of live animals and use of live-traps, use of microscopes, autopsy equipment, general lab practices and use of field equipment to collect data and process specimens for biological data and sample collection.
- You have demonstrated experience working safely in the lab and in remote field settings, including the use of multiple means of transportation (e.g. canoes, outboard motors ATV's, UTV's, Snowmobiles, small aircraft and helicopter) and use of communication & data collection methods (satellite phones, GPS units, telemetry equipment, data recorders, tablets).

**Analytical skills**:

- You have attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy and integrity when collecting, compiling and manipulating data and reports.
- You have decision making skills to identify requirements for activities, establish resource needs, and arrange for program monitoring.
- You understand basic statistics to complete preliminary summaries, including analysis of data to determine such variables as mean, standard deviation and range.

**Technical expertise**:

- You have working knowledge of wildlife research, monitoring and management techniques and principles to plan, organize and implement projects.
- You possess basic knowledge in mammalian anatomy, wildlife disease and histology to safely collect and handle biological material both in the field and the laboratory.
- You have experience handling large mammals and experience with chemical immobilization of wildlife.

**Communication and Interpersonal skills**:

- You have the ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy, to train staff, present results, and prepare reports, field and training manuals, and safe operating procedures
- You have well developed interpersonal skills to solicit and maintain cooperation with other staff, partner agencies and the public to maintain and build strong relationships and cooperation.
- You have proven ability to work with mínimal supervision, as a team member and as a leader (when required) to provide supervision/coaching to staff.
